A documentary by Marusya Bociurkiw.
Join the Ukrainian-Canadian filmmaker as she tracks the progress of the Euromaidan revolution (Revolution of Dignity), and the Russian occupation that followed, from the perspective of LGBT Ukrainians. From accounts of escape and exile, to stories of creative rebellion, this film shows a side of the conflict in Ukraine the world has not yet seen.
After the screening, a longtime filmmaker Halya Kuchmij, whose social issues documentaries have won over 30 awards nationally and internationally, will hold a conversation with Marusya Bosiurkiw about the film. Halya Kuchmij has worked with NFB, CBC and is currently in pre-production on an independent doc about artist William Kurelek. The conversation will surround topics such as the creation process, the challenges encountered, current issues faced and other. The audience will also have a chance to ask questions and engage in the conversation.
This screening is FREE of charge and falls under the umbrella of Toronto Pride Month celebrations.
