On August 5th through to August 7th, Edmonton hosted their annual Heritage Festival in Hawrelak Park. Even with a couple rainy days, the festival was a huge success! Sunday broke record numbers of attendance with 360,000 people enjoying the festivities that day. At the Ukrainian pavilion we also had major success, completely selling out of borscht on Monday morning and having long lines for our food.
On Saturday, the Ukrainian Pavilion held their arm wrestling competition in partnership with the Edmonton Extreme Arm Wrestling Association. The event saw multiple pavilions competing against each other for the gold medal. The competition definitely drew a crowd and got people riled up and cheering for their pavilion. Eventually, Canada was the winner of the arm wrestling competition. After, the crowd was called up to learn how to properly arm wrestle and compete against each other.
