An art exhibition from a series of photo campaign that tackle stigma sorrounding LGBTQ+, HIV+ racism and mental health. The intention is intended to raise awareness that stigma is hurtful to others, even in jokes.
Rainer Oktovianus as the organizer and photographer for this humanity campaign started the project back in 2015. He gets involved with the individuals in each photo and listened to their stories.
The events will be held on August 8 2017 at Shadbolt Center for the Arts in Burnaby starting from 6pm onwards. After the exhibition, there will be a film screening « This Is Gay Propaganda » by Marusya Bociurkiw, a Ukrainian-Canadian filmmaker. This exhibition is supported by Ukrainian Canadian Congress (UCC) and Youth Enganging Youth in-line with Canada 150.
It’s a free-for-all event and snacks will be provided.
